Teemu Ropponen
General Manager of MyData Global

Teemu Ropponen is the General Manager of MyData Global, a recently formed award-winning international nonprofit that works to empower individuals by improving their right to self-determination regarding their personal data. He is particularly interested in how personal data and open data can be combined to empower citizens, and how data and open collaboration create new business and innovations for a fair and open digital society.

Mr. Ropponen has over 18 years of experience in ICT work across various sectors, mainly in leadership and business development roles. Before co-founding MyData Global, Ropponen worked as Executive Director of Open Knowledge Finland, with the goal of using open data and open collaboration to create an open society.

Enjoying seeing the world from multiple angles, he has previously led ICT non-profits in Helsinki, Finland and Monrovia, Liberia and has worked in the Finnish government, various startups, corporations and academia. Mr. Ropponen holds a M.Sc. (Tech.) in Computer Science from the Aalto University in Finland.
